Elia Biganzoli

Elia Biganzoli is Full Professor of Medical Statistics at the University of Milan and Head of the Clinical Research and Medical Statistics Unit at ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco Hospital. His research spans biostatistics, artificial intelligence, statistical bioinformatics, clinical epidemiology, and translational cancer research.

He has led evaluation and benchmarking activities within the FP6 BIOPATTERN Network of Excellence and the associated Marie Curie BIOPTRAIN program. He has served as Principal Investigator and collaborator in numerous national and international projects funded by AIRC, the National Research Council–Polish Academy of Sciences, the Italian Ministries of Health and University and Research, and the European Commission.

He is currently involved in several funded projects, including DEEPEN-iRBD, PhActHealth, and HEBE, focusing on phenotypic conversion of idiopathic RBD to synucleinopathies, physical activity and healthy aging, and the role of exercise in modulating biomarkers of age- and environment-related chronic diseases. He is also co-founder and member of the steering committee of the Data Science Research Center at the University of Milan.

Within the MAMELI project, he leads the development of predictive models in molecular epidemiology, with a focus on machine learning approaches.
