Angela Cecilia Pesatori

Angela Pesatori is an occupational physician and epidemiologist with extensive academic and research experience, contributing significantly to the understanding of the health effects of chemical and physical exposures.

She obtained her degree in Medicine and Surgery, specialization in Occupational Medicine, and PhD in Occupational Medicine and Industrial Hygiene from the University of Milan and a consortium of Italian universities. She is currently Full Professor of Occupational Medicine at the Department of Clinical and Community Sciences, University of Milan, and Head of the Epidemiology Unit at Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan.

Her research has focused on cancer risk assessment in populations exposed to a wide range of chemical and physical agents, including benzene, PAHs, PCBs, formaldehyde, TFE, asbestos, artificial mineral fibers, and petrochemical exposures. She has investigated the role of genetic and environmental factors in lung cancer etiology and contributed to the long-term epidemiological surveillance of populations exposed to TCDD following the Seveso accident. Her work also includes studies on air pollution and epigenetic markers in occupational and environmental settings.

She has been involved in numerous international collaborations, including coordination of field activities for the NCI-funded EAGLE study, and contributions to major national projects on air pollution and occupational health.

Within the MAMELI project, she serves as a member of the Advisory Board.
